Thanksgiving Trip
December 12th, 2008A little late to post about our Turkey Day trip but it’s been a long couple of weeks. The plane ride to the Motor City was definitely entertaining. This whacked out late 40-something lady sat next to me. She mumbled a lot. The only legible sentence I heard from her was something about working 18 hours a day for 3 weeks straight. She took down a white wine and a snack pack in the first hour then proceeded to doze off. The third time she bumped into my shoulder was when I knew I had a live one. Then she woke up for the double bloody mary. That didn’t last long because she really crashed out hard.
It’s not easy to snap a photo with your phone while you’re cracking up because some stranger is snuggling up with you on the plane. You can imagine MW next to me rolling her eyes.
Highlights of the trip (in no particular order): Red Wings hockey game- they lost but still good times at the Joe. Baby Girl and her Great Grandmother. Super tasty smoked turkey- best one yet. Reigning euchre champ. My fill of Becks Oktoberfest and Bells Oberon.
Fortunately…
November 8th, 2008the Big Ten has teams like Wisconsin and Minnesota. Both teams lack true tradition in every sport, sans hockey, and this year is no different. Big Blue rolled in to the Humphreydome today and completed another victory to keep the Little Brown Jug. The Wolverines never lost in the Dome and have beaten the Goof’s 36 of the past 39. Michigan will own the new TCF stadium in the same manner!
Hey Mike Honcho, this was your year to put a beating on a weak Wolverine team. So much for that. At least you have the Queens! Bahahahaha!!
Morning Cereal
October 30th, 2008I have some in-laws in town this week. MDubs brother, his wife and their 6 y/o daughter. I came home from work a couple nights ago and found the good cereal that I don’t buy anymore- Cocoa Crispies and Cinnamon Toast Crunch. I was being a smart ass and asked why they didn’t buy Captn Crunch for the tri-fecta of sugary goodness. Low and behold it was sitting on the counter when I made it back from Flag last night. I tried it this morning and remembered instantly that I liked Peanut Butter Crunch much better.

October 21st, 2008Car Detail
October 6th, 2008What a great weekend. Temps were in the upper 80’s for a high. A touch of rain. Windows were open at night. Hell, if it wasn’t for that ugly Michigan - Illinois game it would have been damn near perfect.
After many weeks of procrastinating I decided it was time to wash the wife’s 4Runner. Wasn’t all that dirty but definitely needed it after that bit of rain. The worst part about detailing the car is the tire dressing. I use Meguiars Gold Class because I think it looks great, but no matter what I apply it with, it puts black gunk underneath my fingernails. I hate it! It stays there for days it seems. I’m really not a fan of scrubbing under my nails either because it irritates my skin to no end. Anyhow, Mama Bear is happy and that’s all that matters.
A-Maize-ing
September 29th, 2008What a crazy finish to a horrible start on Saturday in Ann Arbor. I truly didn’t want to watch the 2nd half. If it wasn’t for all the people in my house pounding down vodka cocktails I probably would have left. Can’t believe my dad left the Big House after the last TD. Another round of sushi on Nelly. I can’t wait.
Bass
August 4th, 2008Finally got sick of the factory stereo system while driving back and forth to Flagstaff in the G35. I really wanted to keep everything stock (Bose isn’t that bad) but add some deep bass. I put my carpenter skills to test and built the box in about two hours. Very simple cube design and super small with about .78 cf volume for a 12″ sub. All that’s left is some carpet and I’m good to go. The 12″ Alpine Type R sub is powered by a 1000W Alpine Mono amp. We made the amp work by installing it in the wheel well. I swear it hits as hard, if not harder, than the twin 12″ Blue Thunders I had in my Stanza.
Sizing Her Up
August 4th, 2008Hoops at 35
June 23rd, 2008I started shooting hoops at the gym a few weeks ago. Feels pretty good to be back on the court. The shot came back after a few trips, but the quick slashes to the rim are now gone. Saturday I went for 40 minutes of cardio and light shooting with G-Money. My shot was dead on in back to back games of PIMP (PIG is for sissies). The kids on the other end wanted to run full court so G$ and I ran with them. Felt great while playing. Didn’t miss a shot in five attempts. Man was my back and knee sore the next day. 10 years and 40 pounds will do that to you.
